Don't make new years resolutions

Coming from a consummate goal-setter that might sound surprising.

Consider this: Over 90% of resolutions bite the dust within 3 months, and many barely make it past the 10-day mark. The reasons are well-known - lack of intention, conflicting with genuine desires, being too lofty, unplanned, unsupported, or centred around loss rather than gain. (If you've already committed to a few, perhaps you might reframe them…?)

Instead, how about this - if you're keen on investing time being intentional about the next year (or month, or 6 months), start by examining your values. What are they, and how will you honour them? What activities do you want to amplify?

This principle applies not only to individuals but also to businesses. While companies often declare their values, in my experience few regularly assess how well they're aligning with them and what they might do differently.

Here are a few values I'm thinking about for this year:

- Do what’s most impactful

- Learn

- Enjoy what you do

- Act with Integrity

- Do Your Best
