As 2023 wrapped up, I was reflecting on some of the content I'd most enjoyed and, being a bit of a nerd, I enjoy TV that plays to my professional interests.
Here are my favourite 2023 TV Team & Leadership lessons to enjoy from the sofa (in no particular order, and no spoilers I promise):
The Bear (Disney+). A lesson in turnaround and transformation. Define your vision, make a plan, invest in your team, and deal with all the stuff that goes awry.
Top Boy (Netflix). The final instalment in an epic of a power struggle between those at the top, and the values that drive them. Plus operational issues abound (investors, suppliers, team…)
Succession (Sky). The Media Mogul family one. Everyone’s imperfect. This one’s more about money & power than leading.
Traitors (BBC). How to win friends and get rid of them. A masterclass in influence and group dynamics when there is literally nothing to go on.
Slow Horses (Apple). Functionally dysfunctional team, working out their way to work together.
